The image file should be optional.
Try using it as an option. If this does now work, then it needs to be fixed.
As a workaround, you could use a zero length file as the image file.

Ah yes, and another note.  It seems for the new mkyaffs, you are required to
give it a proper yaffs image file.  But really the way I plan to use it I
just want a clean fs after a full erase.  So can we make the yaffs image
file an option?
