Not so much promoting as just using (but yes I do think it's great and use it everywhere, arm and x86) > Can someone explain the development procedure? Different people use different variants. I use the Embedded Debian cross-toolchain, or sometimes other cross-toolchinas (handhelds.org, armlinux.co.uk), nd the (fledgling) embedded Debian tools. But I wouldn't recommend the latter to anyone unless you mostly wanted to develeop emdebian rather than your target ap at the moment. I also use Open Ebedded as a rather more mature embedded-system-producing tool. Nick uses debian-arm native tools running on the balloon itself with an NFS_mounted filesystem so he can build eveything natively and have a dev environment on the board just like on his desktop (except slower). He uses the familiar/handhelds.org build stuff. Sometime soon I hope to get round to supporting balloon as a standard target for Debian so you can install a standard CD onto it. You can use any build environment you like to target Balloon - at least one person has even used Cygwin successfully.
