It is normal to install the modules into /lib/modules/<kernel-name>/
You have a kernel called 2.4.19-rmk4-tcl2-b1-james. I created the kernel up the tcl2 bit. The other authors need to comment on their bits.

What ipkg source feed are you using?
If you are trying to install my 2.4.25 kernel modules into a 2.4.19 kernel machine then it certainly won't work.

I guess I need to know how you are trying to install onto balloon first. Are you using the serial port? Are you using usbnet? Where are you getting the ipkgs from?
