I've just discovered that bits 14 and 13 on the Balloon 3 LCD connector
are swapped over, which explains why my greyscales looked odd. Pin 23
should be LDD13 and pin
24 should be LDD14.

Fortunately this is easy to work around with the mods on the LCD
interface board but should be fixed...
