The/Your old layout started from byte 0 of the OOB - the new MTD stuff prety-much enforces starting from byte 2. If that's true for 512b YAFFS1-emulation as well as 2K YAFFS2 then you have a problem. (I havem't checked yet). Clearly it can be made to work, but I'm not sure it will 'just work' by default. Once we have everything in once codebase it should be farily obvious what needs doing. A runtime option for bootldr (set build), the kernel (boot tag) and mkayffsimage (option) to switch to old smartmedia OOB layout would be best so we don't need to have different builds of everything. At least on 2K boards this problem should not arise. They will all be 'new-style'.
