you can try to edit /driver/mtd/nand/nandsim.c in kernel source, replace NAND_ECC_SOFT with NAND_ECC_NONE. rebuild kernel and try to mount you yaffs fs img again, maybe it will get something difference, nandsim only simutate the common controller and flash device, you should be known well about nandsim.c and configure it to  let it simulate your target controller and nandflash device on android phone.
