Subject: [Balloon] Using balloon board to reuse old notebook parts
Hi,

(I'm not subscribed to this list, please include me as CC in replies)

I had an idea this days when I was looking at the balloonboard site. I
was thinking if it is possible to use balloon to reuse the LCD,
keyboard, mouse and case from old broken notebooks, turning them into a
usefull subnotebook. I talked to wookey and he pointed me a commercial
equivalent, the Psion Netbook, that is quite expensive.

He pointed also that would be necessary to have a CF card for storage
and a frame-buffer to refresh the LCD (as strongarm would be too busy
doing it to do any other things). And that it would be more expensive
than buying a second hand laptop (which would include a hard drive).

BTW, I think it's still an interesting project, and actually I think it
would be possible to sell a lot of boards if it could handle this (do
you imagine a geek saying to another: "I'm geeker than you, I've built
my own PDA":)... Jokes behind, It would be nice, wouldn't it?

What do you think?
