Yup, that has been considered and will probably
happen. The kernel and root fs are already stored in a
small NOR flash. Some applications and resources go in
the nand which will be "starting" while the yaffs
partition containing the bulk of the data is being
mounted. However, the "dead-time" between application
start and fs mount stinks and it would be much nicer
just to have everything mounted in a couple of
seconds.
