Hi guys,
I keep telling Wookey I'll do this every time I see him.
Could I request to become a member of the development group for Balloon
please.
As I discussed with Wookey, I'm interested to see if it would be
(theoretically) possible to "open" the schematics by converting them
from Altium's propitiatory format, to the open gEDA(*) format for
schematics.
Whilst I appreciate Altium is nice, and that the Balloon board will
probably continue to be developed using it, as a gEDA developer, I'd
love to see if it were possible to retrieve useful data from the Altium
files. If so, you then also have a format you could potentially make
schematics available in which are still editable as schematics, but with
a lower entry cost for new developers.
There is a possible conversion route, something like using Altium to
save as Protel 98 Format, then using Protel 98 to save as its old Protel
ASCII based format, followed by a conversion program which converts that
to gEDA schematics.
