I really couldnt get OpenWRT to mount my root partition with the
inband-tags parameter. As soon as it boots with that parameter, the
partition cannot be mounted and it kernel panics.
I could successfully change the mount type from yaffs (which
apparently defaults to yaffs v1) to yaffs2, that works fine:
[ 0.590000] yaffs built Jun 2 2014 16:52:35 Installing.
[ 2.390000] yaffs: dev is 32505862 name is "mtdblock6" ro
[ 2.390000] yaffs: passed flags ""
[ 2.400000] yaffs: Attempting MTD mount of 31.6,"mtdblock6"
[ 2.400000] yaffs: auto selecting yaffs1
[ 4.850000] VFS: Mounted root (yaffs2 filesystem) readonly on device
31:6.
By the way, even after boot showing that partition was mounted as
yaffs2, /proc files appears to not show that, i'm really confused here:
root@OpenWrt:~# mount | grep yaffs
/dev/root on / type yaffs2 (rw,noatime)
root@OpenWrt:~# grep yaffs2 /proc/yaffs
is_yaffs2............ 0
root@OpenWrt:~#
but as soon as i change to yaffs2 and give the
rootflags=inband-tags parameter too, it panics and i couldnt get it to work.
[ 2.390000] yaffs: dev is 32505862 name is "mtdblock6" ro
[ 2.390000] yaffs: passed flags "inband-tags"
[ 16.450000] VFS: Mounted root (yaffs2 filesystem) readonly on device
31:6.
[ 16.460000] Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing
init= option to kernel. See Linux Documentation/init.txt for guidance.
after trying lots of different combinations for over a week, i
think i'm almost giving up on trying to boot with inband-tags :(
the /proc/yaffs data i already gave you were useful ? Did you have
any idea of what can be the problem ? Can i help you with any other
information ?
