I'll take a shot at it, since I want to build my own custom FPGA image
anyway. I'll start by seeing if/how I can make the existing code &
infrastructure work. You (the list) can probably expect some
questions from me in the near future.

When I just did that, it didn't fill in the distro directory. I'm
curious to learn if that's the case for others building trunk from
scratch, or if something went wrong in my build.
