ipkg install task-pcmcia-2.4.25 net-modules-2.4.25 should do it (or 2.6.8.1 variants)

No according to SW. I found that the 10MBit LPE was ok though (shh!). The 100MBit needs more oomph and typically does a tripple reset after which time some capcitors or another are sufficiently charged so that booting continues.
